Last Updated: March 13, 2026

Welcome to Poplar ("Poplar," "we," "us," or "our").

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our website (www.usepoplar.com) and related products or services (collectively, the "Services").

By using Poplar, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Services.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information to operate effectively and provide you with a great user experience. The types of information we may collect include:

a. Information You Provide

  • Account Information: Name, email address, password, and other profile details.
  • Payment Information: Billing address, payment method, and transaction data (processed securely by third-party providers such as Stripe).
  • Content and Usage Data: Posts, captions, scheduling preferences, and interactions within Poplar.
  • Communications: Emails, messages, or feedback you send to us.

b. Automatically Collected Information

  • Device and Log Data: IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, and device identifiers.
  • Usage Analytics: Interactions within Poplar, such as creating or scheduling posts, viewing analytics, and managing accounts.
  • Cookies and Tracking Technologies: We use cookies and similar technologies to improve user experience and analyze usage patterns.

c. Third-Party Integrations

When you connect a third-party account (e.g., LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram), we may access limited data necessary to provide the Services, such as:

  • Page or profile name, ID, and access tokens (stored securely)
  • Posts, comments, and engagement metrics for analytics
  • Permissions you explicitly grant to Poplar when connecting your account

We access only the data needed to deliver functionality you request and never post without your explicit authorization.

d. YouTube Data

If you connect a YouTube channel to Poplar, we access the following data from Google's YouTube APIs on your behalf:

  • Your YouTube channel ID, channel name, profile picture, and the email address associated with your Google Account, used to identify your connection inside Poplar.
  • Metadata for videos and Shorts you upload through Poplar — title, description, tags, publish time, privacy status, and public engagement counts (views, likes, comments).
  • Aggregate channel and video analytics from the YouTube Analytics API — views, watch time, average view duration, and audience retention — for content you have published through Poplar.

Poplar's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not transfer YouTube data to third parties except as necessary to provide or improve user-facing features, comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets with notice to users. We do not use YouTube data to serve advertisements and we do not sell it. We do not allow humans to read this data unless we have your affirmative agreement for specific data, it is necessary for security purposes (e.g., investigating abuse), it is required to comply with applicable law, or it is aggregated and de-identified.

Your use of YouTube features through Poplar is also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. You can revoke Poplar's access to your YouTube account at any time at security.google.com/settings/security/permissions; doing so immediately stops Poplar from accessing your YouTube data, and previously synced metadata will be deleted from our systems within 30 days.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

  • Operate, maintain, and improve our Services
  • Facilitate content scheduling and account management
  • Upload videos and YouTube Shorts to your YouTube channel when you schedule or publish content through Poplar, and fetch the resulting video status and analytics so we can show you performance metrics inside the app
  • Provide analytics and reporting features
  • Communicate with you regarding updates, support, or security alerts
  • Prevent fraud, abuse, or misuse of our platform
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data.

3. How We Share Information

We may share your information with:

  • Service Providers: Vendors who assist with hosting, analytics, payments, or customer support
  • Integrations: Platforms you explicitly connect to (e.g., LinkedIn, Meta, X/Twitter)
  • YouTube and Google: When you connect a YouTube account, your video uploads, metadata, and analytics requests are sent to YouTube and Google APIs to deliver the features you requested. We do not share YouTube data with any other third party, do not use it for advertising, and do not sell it.
  • Legal or Safety Requirements: When required by law, regulation, or government request
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notice provided to you)

All third parties must handle your data in accordance with applicable privacy laws and our contractual agreements.

4. Data Retention and Storage

We retain your data only as long as necessary to provide the Services or comply with legal obligations.

When connected to LinkedIn or other third-party APIs, we follow each platform's data handling requirements — including any caching, retention, and deletion policies specific to that platform.

You may request deletion of your account or data at any time by contacting hi@usepoplar.com.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights under data protection laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), such as:

  • Accessing and receiving a copy of your data
  • Correcting inaccurate or outdated information
  • Requesting deletion of your data
  • Withdrawing consent to processing
  • Opting out of marketing communications

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at hi@usepoplar.com.

You can revoke Poplar's access to any connected YouTube or Google account at any time from your Google Account's third-party access settings at security.google.com/settings/security/permissions. Revocation immediately stops Poplar from accessing your YouTube data; previously synced metadata will be deleted from our systems within 30 days of revocation.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures — including encryption, access controls, and secure hosting — to safeguard your information.

While we strive to protect your data, no system is entirely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. International Data Transfers

If you access Poplar from outside the United States, your data may be transferred and processed in the U.S. or other countries where our servers or partners operate, which may have different data protection standards.

8. Children's Privacy
